The plan is being conducted by the Nigeria Halal Economy Strategy Implementation Committee, established in March 2026. Its activities have been organized into four workstreams and 13 delivery clusters with defined milestones designed to turn planning into measurable results.

Planned initiatives include the development of a national Halal mark and the creation of an accreditation and verification platform. The states of Osun, Katsina and Kano have already expressed interest in adopting the strategy at the regional level.

The program is also connected to institutions including the Islamic Development Bank, the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa and the D8 Halal Forum.

Nigeria’s initiative demonstrates how the Halal economy is becoming part of national development, industrialization and foreign trade strategies. Within this environment, certification, traceability and reliable processes are essential for businesses seeking access to international markets.

Halal certification strengthens product credibility, increases buyer and consumer confidence and helps companies prepare for commercial opportunities across different regions of the world.
