SAUDI ARABIA EXPANDS TOURISM AND CREATES NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE HALAL MARKET

Growth in hospitality, gastronomy and services strengthens demand for products aligned with Islamic principles

Saudi Arabia is undergoing a transformation that is expanding its presence in international tourism. Historical destinations, natural landscapes, gastronomy, hospitality and new projects are helping the country build an image that extends beyond traditional religious travel.

Major attractions include AlUla, home to Hegra, the first Saudi site listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; Riyadh, a capital that combines historical heritage, gastronomy and contemporary architecture; Jeddah and its connection with the Red Sea; the mountainous Asir region; and Rub’ al Khali, considered the world’s largest continuous sand desert.

Cuisine plays a strategic role in this experience. Traditional dishes, cafés, restaurants, hotels and food service operations introduce Saudi culture to visitors while supporting a supply chain that includes ingredients, processed foods, non-alcoholic beverages, cosmetics, personal care products and hospitality solutions.

This development also creates opportunities for companies interested in the Halal market. Tourism growth is expected to increase demand for suppliers capable of providing products supported by verified origin, traceability and compliance with Islamic principles.

Within this environment, Halal certification serves as a tool for trust and market access. It demonstrates that ingredients, raw materials and production processes have been assessed according to specific requirements, strengthening relationships among companies, buyers and Muslim consumers.

More than an emerging destination, Saudi Arabia is becoming a showcase for the Halal economy and for businesses prepared to serve an increasingly structured and demanding international market.
