A new study conducted by Vero and GMO-Z.com Research in June 2025 reveals that 89% of Indonesian Muslims consider access to halal food the most important factor when choosing travel destinations — ahead of price, safety, and recreation. With over 230 million Muslims, Indonesia is shaping a global tourism movement driven by faith and values.
The halal tourism market is projected to reach USD 410.9 billion by 2032. Digital tools play a central role: 70% of travelers use halal travel apps, 89% follow faith-based influencers, and 45% book through Muslim-friendly platforms. This growing preference for destinations that respect religious needs marks a new phase in global hospitality.
