n a major step forward for Halal tourism in Africa, Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah, has publicly voiced support for the development of Halal-compliant hospitality services across the country.
Speaking at a recent meeting in Accra, the Deputy Minister highlighted that the push for Halal tourism is not just about accommodating Muslim travelers, but also about boosting Ghana’s economic potential and global reputation.
He encouraged hotels and restaurants to begin offering Halal-friendly services, even before full certification systems are in place, with guidance from the Bureau of Halal Certification Ghana (BHCG).
Jajah also noted that Halal standards appeal to a broad base of travelers who value hygiene, food safety, and ethical service—positioning Ghana to tap into one of the fastest-growing segments in the global travel market.
