The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has issued a new directive requiring all food importers to obtain Halal certificates from certification bodies recognized by the Saudi Halal Center.
This measure aims to:
✅ Ensure compliance with Islamic dietary laws and technical regulations 📜
✅ Strengthen oversight of meat, processed foods, and animal-derived products 🥩
✅ Maintain the integrity of Halal products in the Saudi market 🕌
The decision follows concerns that some importers were using certificates from non-recognized entities, jeopardizing traceability and authenticity. The SFDA has emphasized that importers failing to comply will face legal consequences.
With this regulation, Saudi Arabia reinforces its global leadership in Halal food control, ensuring strict quality and authenticity standards.
