Arab Halal Day will be held on October 23 during the French food fair, and will feature beef barbecue and chicken shawarma to attract Arab importers.
Brazil is preparing a special event to promote halal meats at the main food fair in Europe, Sial Paris (International Food Fair), which will take place from 21 to 25 October in the French capital. Halal is the commodity produced according to Islamic traditions.
The Arab Halal Day will be held on October 23 at the Paris fair and will offer visitors a Brazilian halal beef barbecue at the pavilion of the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporters (Abiec) and halal chicken shawarma (typical Arab sandwich) in the pavilion of the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).
The marketing action will feature typical decoration and videos on Arab culture, as well as the tasting of meats, all to promote the Brazilian product in the Islamic market. The event is promoted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Exports and Investments (Apex-Brasil).
According to the Arab Chamber's business executive, Fernanda Baltazar, Sial Paris attracts many buyers from Muslim countries, mainly Arabs from North Africa and from the region of Maghreb, a region of French colonization that until today maintains strong economic and cultural ties with the France. "We want to show the importance of the halal product even outside the Arab world, which is a trend and a growing market, and Sial always has a large number of Arab companies, which offers the opportunity for these players and importers to make a first contact with the Brazilian halal product, "said Baltazar.
According to the Arab Brazilian Chamber president, Rubens Hannun, in a speech to participants in the pro-leader leadership training program last weekend, is part of the mission of the entity to seek the Arabs outside the Arab world. "Sial Paris is an example. The approach between people is independent of where they are. The Arabs frequent this fair a lot, so we go wherever they are, "Hannun said. This is the third time that the Arab Brazilian Chamber holds Arab Halal Day in partnership with animal protein exporting entities. The first was at Sial Paris itself in 2016, and the second last year at the Anuga German fair, where nearly a ton of halal beef barbecue was served to visitors, and the action brought more than 150 business meetings. The novelty in this edition of Arab Halal Day is the partnership with ABPA, with the tasting of halal chicken shawarma in its pavilion. The Association will bring representatives of 22 companies in the sector, some of which already work in the Arab market. Abiec has announced that it will bring 20 Brazilian companies, including JBS, Mafripar, Marfrig, Minerva Foods and Xinguara, and its pavilion will serve 950 kilos of meat throughout the fair, in cuts such as picanha, filet mignon, kebabs and termite. In addition to buyers from Arab countries, the fair hosts businessmen from the European countries sector who work in Muslim communities. It is estimated that France has 3.5 million Muslims, and a similar number of consumers of halal products also inhabit Britain and Germany. Brazil is a world leader in the production and export of halal animal protein - beef and chicken. In 2017, exports of cattle and poultry products to the Arab League countries totaled US $ 3.5 billion, with US $ 2.6 billion in poultry products alone. The main buyers were Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Algeria.
