Brazilian poultry shipments increased year-to-date through April, driven up by the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
Poultry exports from Brazil were up 5.1% year-to-date through April from a year ago, the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) reported.
This was the increase in terms of shipped volume. Year-to-date through April, Brazil exported 1.36 million tonnes of raw and processed poultry, from 1.29 million a year ago.
“Aside from the expected hike in sales to China, we saw a significant increase in exports to destinations in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. The industry is committed to keep the exports flow during this period of pandemic, strengthening its support for the food security of our partner nations,” ABPA chairman Francisco Turra was quoted as saying in a press release.
But April alone saw a decrease in poultry exports from Brazil, which were down by 4.7% in volume, to 343,300 tonnes. Revenue was down 13.9% to USD 515.9 million.
