The president of SIILHalal Certifier, Chaiboun Darwiche, participated from September 2 to 4 in a business mission in Egypt led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Map).
The meeting, which brought together Brazilian companies and entities from various sectors, Map Executive Secretary Eumar Novacki presented a proposal to the Egyptian government for the implementation of a pilot electronic certification program for the sale of Brazilian meats to Egypt, which should leverage exports of the product to the country.
The initiative integrates a new map of debureaucratization and modernization of the Map and was developed by the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporters (ABIEC) and the University of São Paulo (USP).
According to Ministry data, the main agricultural products sold by Brazil to Egypt last year were meats (38.14%), products from the sugar and alcohol complex (29.98%) and cereals, flours and preparations (25.33%).
According to Chaiboun Darwiche, director of the Halal certifier, the mission provided an opportunity for the exchange of information and the possibility of market opening for Brazilian companies, especially animal protein.
"The meeting served to de-bureaucratize and present solutions that may be more effective for the export of Brazilian products. We once again participated in the mission, reinforcing the importance of exporting halal food and products throughout the world," he says.
