Eduardo Bolsonaro visited Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait

The Brazilian congressman also traveled to the United Arab Emirates. Brazil’s president Jair Bolsonaro is expected to travel to Kuwait in January

Brazilian congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro visitedOman, Bahrain, Kuwaitand the United Arab Emirates in the first fortnight of December. His father, president Jair Bolsonaro, is expected to travel to Kuwait in January. Eduardo presides over the Chamber of Deputies’ Foreign Relations and National Defense Committee.

The Embassy of Brazil in Kuwait said this was a very important visit, because the Brazilian government is realizing that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries must be given equal attention.

In Bahrain, on December 10 and 11, Eduardo (pictured, on the left, with Brazil’s ambassador Norton Rapesta on the right) was welcomed by the minister of Defense, the minister of Interior and the president of the National Assembly. He also had lunch with the foreign minister.

On December 12 to 14 in Kuwait, the Brazilian congressman met with the president of the Parliament’s Foreign Relations commission, the president of the Kuwait-Brazil Friendship Group, the Parliament’s president, the Foreign Ministry’s International Cooperation undersecretary, and the deputy foreign minister.

Eduardo discussed investment opportunities in Brazil and the changes underway in the country’s economy and security issues. He also called on the parliaments of the countries he went to to cooperate with Brazil. The Embassy also reported that the purpose of Eduardo Bolsonaro’s trip was familiarization and the sharing of information. He gave information about Brazil and asked questions about regional conflicts and the major players involved.

In the UAE, on November 30 and December 1, Eduardo was welcomed by Brazil’s ambassador to Abu Dhabi, Fernando Igreja, and had meetings with local businesspeople. On his Instagram account, he uploaded photographs with crown prince Mohammed bin Zayed during UAE National Day celebrations; with Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ruler’s representative for eastern Abu Dhabi and the man who brought Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to the UAE; and at Hedayah, a global organization designed to share knowledge and experiences in dialogue, training and research against all forms of violent extremism.

In Oman, on December 8 and 9, Eduardo met with the president and members of Parliament, deputy prime-minister Mahmoud Al-Said, and Foreign Ministry secretary general Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi. He also visited Brazilian mining company Vale’s pelletizing plant in Sohar, alongside Brazil’s ambassador to Oman, José Marcos Nogueira Viana.
