SIIL Halal cleared to certify goods for Saudi Arabia
The Brazilian certifier has been accredited by the Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA) to issue halal certificates concerning slaughtering and food items for export to the Arab country.

The Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA) has given the greenlight for Brazil’s SIILHalal to certify food products and slaughtering intended for sales to the Saudi Arabian market, the Brazilian certifier said this week. SIIL Halal is a member of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC).

“This comes in recognition of our commitment to complying with all international regulations and with Islamic jurisprudence. It is the result of teamwork geared towards efficient processes, and of close attention paid to the requirements of the Halal Certification market,” a press release quoted SIILHalal CEO Chaiboun Darwiche as saying.

Darwiche believes Brazil could step up its exports to Saudi Arabia, and that halal certification provides an edge for businesses looking to tap into that market. According to data compiled by the ABCC, USD 1.5 billion worth of goods got shipped from Brazil to Saudi Arabia from January to October 2020.
