Poultry exports from Brazil were up 11.3% in shipped volume year-on-year in August to 362,400 tons, including raw and processed product, the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) reported this Wednesday (9). Export revenues were down 10% to USD 497.8 million.

Saudi Arabia’s poultry imports from Brazil climbed 24% to 46,700 tons. The UAE’s imports also climbed 24%, to 25,800 tons in August. China stepped up its imports by 46% to 54,700 tons. South Korea imported 14,200 tons, up 25% year-on-year.

China was the leading importer, followed by Saudi Arabia. “Monthly export results have been positive regarding virtually all major importers of poultry from Brazil. The uptrend in exports helps alleviate the impact of the hike in costs stemming from the pandemic and high grain prices,” a press release quoted ABPA chairman Ricardo Santin as saying.

Year-to-date through August, 2.833 million tons of poultry products got exported from Brazil, up 1.8% from a year ago. export revenue was down 11.3% to USD 4.14 billion.
